Romans 13 on an Island

Let’s suppose that we are among a group of 63 people shipwrecked on a lost island.  We conclude that there is little chance of being found, but that the island is both deserted and hospitable in climate and resources.  Most of us are Christians. Immediately we get to work gathering, Read more…

“Politics is Not the Answer”…

…to what?  This phrase has become a common remark in Christian circles, a rebuke to Christians who participate in or encourage political involvement.  It sounds spiritual, it just isn’t.  Typically, it is followed up by a reminder of the failure of political involvement by Christians over the past few decades Read more…

Do You Hate Us?

A Open Letter to Attendees of the Mid-Atlantic Reformation Society In Jesus’ teaching to His twelve, just before arrest and crucifixion, He compared their lives to branches of a vine.  To the extent they drew their sustenance from the true root of the vine, Himself, their lives would bear fruit Read more…

Can’t We All Just Get Along? (Probably Not)

We Christians have much to do – much to tell – much to teach. An article that appeared in our local newspaper last week  (“One in Faith,” Reading Eagle, February 5, 2011, page D1. http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=284289 ) reports an example of tolerance run amok.  A local group of varying faiths has Read more…
